A Star Has Fallen

January 30, 2018

Our generation has just been made aware of an awful truth, another child disney star has resurfaced for less than flattering reasons. However, unlike the reckless drug use or angry rants most go through, this one was far more violent. Adam Hicks starred in a number of children’s films and television shows in the late 2000s, most notably as Luther in Disney XD’s Zeke and Luther and as Wendell in the Disney Channel Original Movie Lemonade Mouth, where he showed off some rap and hip hop skills that looked like he might have a promising post disney career. The little success he was having as an adult actor, however, was brought to a screeching halt when on January 25th he was arrested along with his reported girlfriend Danni Tamburo. They were charged with committing four armed robberies in Burbank, California where they now reside, all of which occurred on Wednesday, January 24th. Investigators say Hicks and Tamburo approached “unsuspecting victims out for a walk” whom they robbed at gunpoint.  The first victim, a 52 year old man, was able to escape without having anything stolen. The three following robberies all occurred within a few minutes of each other. Eyewitnesses described a dark colored Kia, which lead the authorities to Tamburo. They received a search warrant, and at 1:15 pm, executed it, arresting Hicks and Tamburo in the process. Their investigations have lead them to believe Hicks committed the robberies while Tamburo acted as his getaway driver, and neither have made any public comments about the incident. They were both held in Burbank County jail, with bail posted at $350,000. Tamburo was released on bail friday night and has a court date in late February; most recent reports suggest Hicks is still in county jail, but this is unclear. Police are currently investigating if other robberies have occurred and are trying to find a motive for the crimes. Hicks has become one of many Disney stars to fall off the deep end into a life less than desirable; however, he is the only one who has engaged in violent crimes. As more information is discovered, and court dates are set, one can only hope that whether or not this was Hicks’ crime, justice is served to the four victims.
