The 2018 season of the JV team welcomes eight freshman players as the varsity team says goodbye to nine senior players: Lauren Fitzsimmons, Sarah Hempstead, Bella Lind, Olivia Wlodkowski, Gab Nuzzolese, Erin Hogan, Claudia Bykowski, and Kaitlyn Pierce. These players made up a majority of the varsity team and are sad at how quickly the past four years have flown by. Like many other sports teams, the seniors had their senior day in October where the underclassman honored them by decorating their lockers and giving them breakfast and snacks. Their senior day was followed by their last official home game where they were each presented to the crowd with their parents beside them, as they took pictures and were given flowers.
Overall, the varsity team got the 7th seed, or 7th ranking, in the Shore Conference, which is highly impressive. Although the JV season is over, varsity continues to play with another game at Southern on Tuesday the 23rd, and possibly a semifinals and finals game Thursday the 25th if they win on Tuesday. Because varsity won their game against Toms River South on Friday, they were able to advance on to the next round. In order to celebrate the season’s success and promote spirit, come, watch, and support as a majority of the girls play their last few high school volleyball games.Rachel Lin
