Lil Wayne Drop C5

The infamous and insane Lil Wayne dropped his newest album Carter V on September 28th, 2018. This was his most anticipated album since “Tha Carter IV” back in 2011, so everyone has been waiting for Lil Wayne’s return to the rap game with a bang. This album had a huge feature list that included XXXTentacion, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Ashanti, Mack Maine, Mannie Fresh and Sampha. The album also had well-known producers such as Metro Boomin, Zaytoven and Dre. “Tha Carter V” was able to show the world the way we all want to see Wayne: creative, open hearted, and unexpected. Wayne is able to incorporate the old Lil Wayne style along with some new ones.  He strays away from the crazy autotune and the extremely vulgar lyrics and focuses more on meaningful words and messages through his songs. He is able to have songs in this album that are primarily just him rapping to a beat, talking about his past life that no one has ever really known. This is seen in “Hittas” and “Problems”. Songs such as “Don’t Cry” and “Dark Side of the Moon” are just a few that really tap into the R&B side of Wayne that he is able to do very well. Along with that, Wayne is able to give his fans a few song where he goes off on the beat. “Mona Lisa” ft Kendrick Lamar , “Let it Fly” ft. Travis Scott and “Demons” are just a few songs where Lil Wayne shows his lyrical and musical genius. Overall I would give Lil Wayne’s “The Carter 5” a 7.4/10. The album was the best work Wayne has given us in a while and I enjoyed listening to all of it.
