CNHS Introduces a New Club: Mindfulness

A new mindfulness club has been meeting on Tuesdays at 8:00 am in the media center. This club was created to help students regulate daily stresses and anxieties. Mrs. Peterson had the idea for this club, and she is assisted by Mrs. Ottone, Mrs. Hope, Mrs. Peterson, Mrs. VanDeVusse, and Mrs. Bocchieri.  Students are taught the basics of mindfulness, such as being present during daily tasks like walking, eating, and listening. The advisors offer techniques to help manage stress quickly throughout the day and host 5-6 minute meditations at each meeting. From this, the hope is that students will begin to realize that they should not stress about the past or the future, but rather they should live in the moment and deal with what is in front of them. To receive reminders from this club, text “@cnmindful” to 810-10. Meetings will be held on Wednesday mornings for the month of February. All students and teachers are welcome.
