Super Bowl LII

February 28, 2018

Have you ever watched the Super Bowl? It is a very enjoyable event; in fact, it is one of the greatest sporting event in the United States and the best night in television. Some Americans consider Super Bowl Sunday an unofficial national holiday.

The Super Bowl is the championship game of the National Football League. This year’s Super Bowl took place at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The game featured the Philadelphia Eagles and the defending champions, New England Patriots. The Eagles led 22-12 at halftime, and the two teams went back and forth until the end. Thanks to Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles, the quarterback of the eagles, Philadelphia went on to win the game, 41-33, making it their first-ever Super Bowl title in franchise history and their first NFL title since 1960.

However, the Super Bowl is not only about just the game; many people tune in for the entertainment outside of football. For example, people enjoy the commercials during the big game. The NFL has become known for its players’ elaborate touchdown celebrations, but the organization’s Super Bowl commercial took it to the next level with a performance between Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning and receiver Odell Beckham Jr.  At halftime, pop artist Justin Timberlake took the stage to perform this year’s halftime show. Part of his setlist included Rock that Body, My Love, and Can’t Stop the Feeling. The University of Minnesota Marching Band also performed in the show. At one point, Timberlake performed a tribute to Prince, who was a Minneapolis native.

All in all, the Super Bowl is one of the most exciting events in the world. From the game, to the commercials, to the halftime show, the entire country comes together to celebrate a great event. Who is already looking forward to next year’s Super Bowl?
