Amanda Gorman
January 29, 2021
The young poet Amanda Gorman amazed Americans all over the country during President Joe Biden’s inauguration when she recited her poem “The Hill We Climb.” Her words inspired many listeners and shined a light during dark times.
All her life, she had trouble pronouncing the letter “R” sound up until 2-3 years ago. Despite this challenge, she continued to practice and recite her poetry. She used writing to “get her voice on the page.” This made her relatable to people who struggle with public speaking and pronouncing words. She is an inspiration to anyone who aspires to be a poet in the future.
Her poetry isn’t the only thing wowing the people! IMG Models announced that it will represent Gorman for fashion and beauty endorsements. In addition, she will be performing at the Super Bowl LV pre show in February.
She is the youngest person in history to recite a poem at an inauguration event in the United States. Gorman was 16 when she became the Youth Poet Laureate of Los Angeles. As a Harvard Graduate, she continues to write many amazing works. With her skill, she became the founder and executive director of One Pen One Page, an organization providing free writing services for the youth. People around the world look forward to her future projects!
