A Hunger Games Revival

Released in 2008, the first Hunger Games book by Suzanne Collins revolutionized modern literature by transporting readers to the dystopian world of Panem. Since then, Collins has released two more books and four more movies. By 2015, she had made her mark on the globe, and after releasing the final Hunger Games movie Mockingjay Pt. 2, fandom followers had to say goodbye to Katniss for the last time- or so they thought. Collins surprised readers by releasing a prequel to the series, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, in 2020. However, the novel did not reach quite the same level of media attention as the previous trilogy due to its different timeline, that is, until now!

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes movie will arrive on the big screen on November 17, 2023, over eight years since the last Hunger Games film was released. For the month of March, Lionsgate has granted Netflix rights to play the Hunger Games movies for all members, increasing the anticipation of the new movie’s release at the end of 2023. I am particularly excited about the release of the new film, as I felt the book exceeded all my expectations. Collins did not disappoint as she explored the dynamics of President Snow and an ordinary girl from District 12 during the creation of the first annual Hunger Games. Such added new dimensions to the existing trilogy, clarifying various character plotlines while exploring the philosophical question of human nature. I cannot wait to see these new characters come to life in November, and I hope you are just as excited as I am.
