Hello everyone, and welcome to “Monthly Music Melody” OR “MMM”. For anyone who is new, I’ll give you a small introduction! Hello, I’m Anastasia Finch, and I’m a freshman. I talk about music/interviews people-(We try to interview 5 different people per article, and if the person(s) chooses, then can go anonymous). My goal this year is to help other people find a music taste or get to know about certain artists. Music brings people together in numerous ways, like for example- like the same artist or even, culture! It’s important to find what you like!
Today, we will be interviewing people- on what music they like to listen to. Hopefully we’ll be able to inspire people to listen to their suggestions!
We ask out three questions:
1.”What type of genre do you like?”
2.”Who is your favorite artist”
3.”How did you discover the music/artist?”
After we get the music the people like, we will research the artist and get information about the arthritis who made the song, like their birthdays and ect.- (With an extra bonus of a fun fact!) Hopefully people will be able to discover other artists and enjoy their work!
For this topic, we will be talking about some artists/bands you have probably heard of due to their music but actually do not know who they are. (I just want to clarify with the time stamps, don’t have to mean only those lyrics are the most known, because other songs can have multiple popular lyrics.)
“Tyler, The Creator” – He makes rap music that is jazz-inspired. You probably haven’t heard of him but his songs, or songs he helped produce. For this first song you probably have heard of it called “ARE WE STILL FRIENDS” – (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb76TgCUqAY) – (0:33 – 0:47) and you will definitely recognize the song. If you still don’t recognize, it try and skip to (2:37-4:13)
Another song you definitely might recognize is “SEE YOU AGAIN” – (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGgcC5xg9YI) – It is so recognizable on the start, you might not even need a timestamp. This last song, you most likely have seem on social media called “Like Him” – (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgUHE8wWhiE) – (2:36-4:00)
“TV Girl”- This is a popular ‘indie’ band, but not a lot of people know about it. During 2020-2021 is when people started to listen to it. Some songs you might recognize with only two lyrics. “Taking What’s Not Yours” – (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox5ENW0CeAU) – ( 1:04-1:08), this is one of their most popular songs and lyrics used in it. Another song could be “Blue Hair” -(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzIXNqpCug0) – (1:22-1:53)
“The Neighbourhood”– This is a band that makes rock. As like the other artist(s)/band(s) you most likely know the songs but not the artist(s)/band(s). This first song would be, “Daddy Issue”-(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lMlsPQJs6U)-(0:42-1:35), from the start of the song, you might already recognize it. Another song called “Sweater Song” – (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCdwKhTtNNw) –(1:23-2:03)- With this song, in the start you might just recognize it!
