As Taylor Swift sang in her last performance of the Eras Tour on December 8, 2024, “It was the end of an era, but the start of an age.” This lyric change from her song Long Live symbolizes the bittersweet moment of Taylor Swift ending this chapter of her life. The Eras Tour was a world-renowned tour, with around 2 billion dollars in ticket sales earned. This tour was known for recapping all of Taylor Swift’s eras throughout her life. The set list had songs from all of her albums, except for her debut album named after herself: Taylor Swift. This tour started in the United States and later on expanded to South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe. To be more specific, she traveled to 51 cities across 21 countries and performed 149 shows. This tour was known for recapping all of Taylor Swift’s most important eras of her life. Because of this tour, she broke so many records, and her fanbase became one of the most passionate ones ever.
As someone who loves Taylor Swift myself, I can see this tour truly brought so many people from all over the world together, whether it was through TikTok or the actual concerts. I remember always seeing videos of her fans trading friendship bracelets at her concerts, making the most fond memories, and wearing the most creative outfits to see her perform. Although I, unfortunately, was not able to get tickets to see the Eras Tour, I watched so many live streams from other people who were fortunate enough to attend, and I was able to experience the magic of this tour from the comfort of my own home. I would always tune in and try to guess the surprise songs on an app called Mastermind, which allowed her fans to make guesses on which tour outfits she would wear and the surprise songs she would sing for every performance for a giveaway prize. I also remember going with my friend to see the Eras Tour Movie, and we screamed our hearts out in the movie theater. It was such a special memory that I will never forget. This tour truly brought so many people together and changed the lives of many of her fans.
It breaks my heart to say there will no longer be Eras Tour live streams, friendship bracelet trading, Mastermind games, or surprise songs. However, in the grand scheme of things, this tour will live on to continue to change the lives of all of her fans. Taylor Swift and her fans left such significant impacts on the music industry as well as pop culture with the creative aspects of The Eras Tour. It is recognizable how much effort Taylor put into making this tour so special for all of her fans, and it is truly so admirable how spectacular of an experience she provided for everyone. I can’t wait to see what Taylor Swift has in store for the future. Hopefully, those who were unable to get concert tickets for the Eras Tour, like me, can experience this magic sometime in the future. While it is all so bittersweet, all good things have to come to an end, and, as Taylor Swift sang in ‘Long Live,’ one of her last surprise songs ever, “Long live all the magic we made.”
