Sunrise on the Reaping, the newest edition to The Hunger Games franchise, was released on March 18. Within its first week released to the public, nearly 1.5 million copies were sold, with 1.2 million being from the U.S. alone. This book follows young Haymitch and his experience as a tribute in the 50th Hunger Games. The book includes a younger version of many of the characters readers know and love from the original franchise. It connects with the original trilogy in a meaningful way that adds a lot more depth to the original story.
Since the book has come out, a lot of information regarding the movie has been released. The movie is set to come out on November 20, 2026. Fans have been eagerly waiting for cast releases, even going as far as to come up with their own dream casts for the movie. The first cast members were revealed on April 23, when it was announced that Lenore Dove will be played by Whitney Peak and Haymitch will be played by Joseph Zada. It has since been announced that the movie will also portray Mckenna Grace as Maysilee, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Lili Taylor as Mags, Ben Wang as Wyatt, and Ralph Fiennes as President Snow. Opinions about these castings have been mixed, but most people have been amazed by how much some of these actors resemble the actor of the older version of their character in the original movies. There is still over a year until the release of the movie and many more actors to be announced, but excitement over the movie only continues to increase.
