With the year 2020 coming to an end, many influencers and celebrities made it their new year’s resolution to live a drama-free life. However, for beauty influencer, Jeffree Star, the controversial situations seem to be never-ending. Star is no stranger to scandals; he seems to find himself in several each year. After every silly situation, he vows to stay out of all drama, but he fails to keep his word and gets caught up in the attention and trivial matters. Continuing this cycle, Jeffree Star is starting 2021 strong when accusations began that he is having an affair with rapper Kanye West. 

As ridiculous as this rumor may sound, Star has stated before that he has had relations with well-known men, which is one of the main reasons why these allegations may not seem so far-fetched to some people. However, if he revealed the names of these people, Star would face several lawsuits and a tremendous amount of backlash; he may even be physically harmed, which is why he stays silent. However, could Kanye West be one of these people?

After being married in 2014, Kim Kardashian is reportedly divorcing Kanye West for the sake of her own sanity and her kids. The two have been living separately for quite some time now. Their relationship has been quite rocky after West’s controversial presidential campaign and many other private issues. Some say the pair have grown apart and moved onto other people. On January 5, a TikTok influencer named Ava Louise suggested that Kanye is seeing a male beauty guru. Although she did not name the person, many people assumed it was Jeffree Star due to his past relationships. Ava Louise captioned her TikTok in which she explained the situation, “I can’t say WHO cuz he’ll sue me hint hint but it’s part of the reason Kanye’s so religious now it’s his self hatred …. my source is legit I promiss.” This video on TikTok caused an uproar and many rumors surrounding this situation. 

Sure, this scandal may seem like a reach, but there are a few key reasons people believed the rumors. Other than having relations with big celebrities in the past, Jeffree Star has song lyrics and several tweets in which he mentions and jokes about having relations with Kanye West. Also, Star has recently purchased a ranch in Wyoming, where Kanye has been residing for quite some time. 

After enjoying some attention, Jeffree Star uploaded a 23-minute video titled, “Addressing the Kanye Situation” on January 7. The video begins with him waking up on January 6 to see his name trending on Twitter, which would not be the first time. This was the first time he has ever heard about the rumors. He states that Ava Louise made up this lie to obtain views. Star throws a little shade, which he is infamous for: “‘Let me just say this one time for any news outlet. I like very tall men. Me and Kanye have never hung out, and this whole thing is really funny.’” He continues by saying that he is single. 

In my opinion, I did not believe the rumor for a second. If the accusations were true, Jeffree Star would have never mentioned Kanye’s name in songs or tweets out of fear of a lawsuit. Also, the evidence provided by Ava Louise had no reliable source other than her own words. She was urging people to trust her, knowing people on the internet are always in the mood for a scandal and something new and interesting to gossip about. The so-called “evidence” was not nearly enough to seem even remotely true, at least for me. Ava Louise used people’s constant thirst for beauty community drama to her advantage. 

If Jeffree had a life motto, I believe it would be “Another day, another scandal.” He is known to live for the attention and scandals on the internet these days. This situation was simply just a silly little rumor that was started by a TikToker to gain some attention and “clout.” After Jeffree’s video and some hilarious memes, Kanye West and Jeffree Star fans seemed to have calmed down. Although this was Jeffree Star’s first scandal of 2021, this will certainly not be the last.
