Winter 2022 Fashion Trends

We are about two months into winter and the temperatures are dropping lower and lower each day. Even though I may still be mentally in summer-mode, Winter 2022 has emerged with some great fashion pieces that make me ache a little less for summer. Here is a list of four Winter 2022 fashion trends that are almost as cool as the 10 degree weather we experienced last week:

Big Scarves

Scarves are a timeless accessory that will always be necessary when living in the Northeast during winter. This year, large scarves have gotten especially popular, thanks to the iconic plaid scarf by ACNE that has blown up on TikTok ($290…..yikes). Nonetheless, big scarves are perfect to pair with any coat or sweater to give a pop of color to an outfit. I would certainly consider buying one this year.

Chunky Cable-Knit Sweaters

I personally love an oversized sweater, especially a sweater that looks like it came from a grandpa’s closet. I have always wanted one of those chunky fisherman sweaters, but they can be pretty pricey or scratchy if they are made of wool. This winter, chunky cable-knit sweaters are very popular, and they are so comfy and warm for the cold winter weather. They are adorable, and go with practically anything!

Puffer Jackets

I have never wanted a puffer jacket so badly until this winter. Everywhere online I see people wearing the North Face black puffer, or the Aritzia “Super Puff.” I love the colorful ones, especially the brown and green North Face ones. They look so warm and cozy for this winter, but the price is a little steep ($280 via the North Face website). However, these jackets are extremely practical for where we live, or for vacationing somewhere that has low temperatures. Jackets like these last forever, and I’m pretty sure there is a North Face puffer jacket that my sister got in 2010 still in a closet in our house.

Flared Leggings

Everyone, and when I say EVERYONE, has a pair of flared leggings right now. I myself bought a pair a few months ago and I wear them every other day. The flares from Aerie (specifically the crossover ones) have been all the rage. Walk down the hallway and you could probably spot five people wearing a pair. They are the comfiest and softest leggings ever, and they go with absolutely everything. I always pair them with an oversized sweatshirt or sweater. The price may be steep ($49.95) but they are so worth it!
