The novel, “Shatter Me,” by Tahereh Mafi, is set in a dystopian society, and written from the perspective of Juliette, whose touch is lethal. After being taken from the insane asylum where she was being held, Juliette was offered a life full of luxuries from the Reestablishment if, in return, she used her touch as a weapon to help them scare the rebels. Juliette refuses to assist the Reestablishment, and with the help of her lover, Adam, she begins to plot her escape; however, is it possible to escape from Warner’s grasp?
Out of 5 stars, I would give this book a 4.5. This book was amazing overall, and the characters felt very real. While the beginning of this book was really hard to get into because it was kind of slow, once I got past the first few chapters, I couldn’t put it down. The author’s word choice makes Juliette’s perspective come to life for the reader, as they can grasp and understand how she is feeling. “Shatter Me,” is one of the best books I have read, and you should definitely try it.
