No matter what holiday you celebrate presents surely bring everyone together. But this year, we should all prioritize putting time and effort into our gifts as it makes them so much more valuable. Here are some suggestions to make your presents more personal.

Books

Reading is a hobby that can seem time-consuming but is so worth it. So many people want to get into it but don’t know where to start. Re-introducing the joys of literature would be such an amazing gift to give. But where do you even begin? First, find out what kind of genre they would want to read. This can typically be learned through their preferred movies and TV shows. If they like rom-coms, buy them a rom-com. Soap operas? There are millions of books packed with drama. Specific choices can be determined through your own or others’ recommendations. Look online for books that the person may be interested in. Research public opinion and ask around. If you’ve read it, how did you like it? Would you recommend it? The quality of a book plus the thought that goes into choosing one will be a memorable present they’re sure to love.

Beauty

Everyone knows the kind of girl who’s obsessed with cosmetics. She’s constantly reapplying lip gloss or mascara and always looks perfectly put together. Even though others may surmise she’s vain, beauty is a way of expression, an art form. So this holiday season, encourage your favorite diva by purchasing them a makeup gift. As always, you want to put effort into your purchase. Start by thinking about the kind of makeup they wear. Are they a full glam girl or a minimalist queen? I would recommend not buying complexion products such as foundations, concealers, or even contours. They are so personalized and vary so much that it can be very difficult to shade match accurately. It would be best to get gift sets. It’s much cheaper than buying individual products and they often work for all skin tones and types. But if you’d prefer to get something they’ve wanted specifically for a while, make sure you know it will work for them. Makeup should not be a mask but rather an accessory.

Shoes

If you want to get someone’s shoes for this holiday season you should consider what shoes you will get them. For starters take a look at what shoes they might like. Does this person like slippers or would they like sneakers? Next, try and see what shoes they need. If it looks like their sneakers are falling apart you shouldn’t get them slippers, but instead a new pair of sneakers. Also, figure out what brand they like. You shouldn’t get them Nike’s if they prefer Adidas. Finally, get them the correct size. You shouldn’t buy shoes without knowing their size because the shoes may be too small or too big for them.

Miscellaneous

If you still don’t know what to get this specific person for the holidays here are just some other presents you could get them. If they like art, try and figure out what art they like. Once you figure that out you could get them art supplies. How about if they like sports? See which sport they like and get them some equipment for that sport. Maybe this person likes superheroes? Then you could get them a poster or a collectible of their favorite hero. Overall, if the person you’re buying for is truly impossible, you could always give them a gift card. Just make sure to leave them a nice note.
